I'm looking for the optimal stable boost setting for gaming with this CPU. A solid increase without extreme temperature spikes between 60-80°C would be ideal. My current setup is 4.5GHz on 1.356v from a Corsair AX1200i PSU, and I've already achieved stability at that frequency.
The top performance comes from a brand new CPU. Even with 4.5GHz it’s still noticeably slower than an i7 2600K. There’s little we can do since FX was essentially a failure. At 5GHz these chips have trouble reaching 60fps in recent games. It’s nice you got it working at 4.5—it’s usually the point before issues begin.
Upgrading to a Ryzen isn’t feasible financially right now. Still, I increased my FX 6300’s speed from 3.5GHz to 4.8GHz, but it cooled down quickly. The Northbridge kept running at around 60-65°C during games, which wasn’t ideal. That’s why I settled on 4.4GHz instead.
It’s about remembering that even here, playing modern games is tough. That’s just the way it is.
