I had it about two years prior, removed it, then got Windows Live Security Platinum virus later—easy to fix. Usually takes a long time, and I haven't used it since.

I combine Avast with anti-malware tools for better defense... However, as @Mooshi mentioned, common sense remains the top choice for virus protection. Avoid suspicious links and you're safe.
