Technically I wouldn't rely on fraps anymore. MSI /w custom codecs covers everything I need. For editing, using high-quality source material is essential; cutting corners will lead to a messier final product compared to starting with good quality and refining it.
I suggest Dxtory. Fraps consumes a lot of CPU power and comes with a large file size.
MSI and Dxtory share identical codecs when set up the same way, but MSI afterburner is available at no cost, whereas Dxtory requires a paid version.
Bandicam delivers top-notch quality, with files fitting within the 500-800 MB range for up to 10 minutes. Recording on the same hard drive typically results in lower frame rates compared to using Fraps.
