Top choice for B450 paired with Ryzen 5 3600
I aim to assemble a PC using a Ryzen 5 3600 and want all four cores to run at 4.2 GHz consistently without overclocking. I’m looking for a B450 motherboard that supports dual M.2 NVMe slots—preferably two—and ideally a single M.2 slot if possible. I also want to avoid any BIOS-related problems like booting issues. Looking for good value for money, thanks ahead!
I suggest the MSI B450 Tomahawk or the Tomahawk Max, both come with 3rd gen Ryzen support out of the box. It offers great value for money. For a clearer picture, you can view this video.
Looking for a more budget-friendly choice? The B450 Aorus Elite is a solid alternative if you're on a tighter budget.
Tomahawk feels a bit overpriced for me. But now Tomahawk Max is available, and it’s actually more costly than the ASUS ROG B450F.
I recommend preparing funds for X570, Tomahawk Max or holding off on B550. I just installed a setup with a B450 Tomahawk and a Ryzen 5 3600 and encountered problems. My system has restarted four times and I think it will repeat the same issue when I disconnect the power supply.
I was really concerned about this. Thank you for your honest feedback. I’d try my best to choose Tomahawk Max since B550 would be delayed, and x570 isn’t necessary for me. Thanks again! Hope you all do well and succeed. That way you won’t encounter that issue.
many suggest the B450 tomahawk due to positive feedback from reviewers, but personal experience shows these creators often simplify complex ideas. In theory, it seems logical—affordable price and solid VRMs—but MSI hasn't fully nailed the BIOS yet. Right now, I'm split: if it runs well, I'll wait for a stable version. I was one of the first to use 3rd Gen Ryzen on a B450. I got it just two days after the Ryzen 3000 launch. I installed two new Ryzen systems and chose MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon ACs. Initially, BIOS issues caused booting problems that took several attempts. Eventually, once running, everything worked perfectly. Now, with BIOS Version 18, everything is stable. The B450 Pro Carbon handles my 3700X without trouble. I don’t have any concerns now.
