The trial for Dxtory or FRAPS needs this. Certain titles include an in-game FPS counter. You can join the Steam beta, which currently features one as well.

Steam is available, but I haven't tried it before, so I can't share my thoughts on it.

To use the Steam FPS counter, open the Steam client and go to the game's settings. There you'll find an option to track your frame rate in real time.

Open Steam settings, then click "In Game." The FPS counter should appear there. Also, being part of the Steam beta might be necessary for this feature.

You should first join the beta through the settings where updates are managed. After completing that, return to proceed.

It's nice, though there are no color choices available.

MSI Afterburner features a built-in tool that adds a real-time monitor with extensive data (or just FPS tracking). I’m currently watching GPU1 performance, temperature, and RAM usage on GPU2, while CPU1, CPU2, and CPU3 stats are displayed. CPU4 metrics show usage and hyper-threaded details: 5 hyper threads, 6 hyper threads, 7 hyper threads, and the system needs some adjustments to fully show everything but that’s okay.
