I've been searching for reliable antivirus solutions but haven't found anything effective. Norton seems ineffective in my view, so it's time to explore alternatives.

On Windows, MalwareDefender works well, and you can then run Malwarebytes to clear any threats that slip through.

I’d prefer Avast, but honestly you probably don’t need an antivirus unless you often download files from suspicious sources. I don’t rely on one—I just use Windows Defender.

I rarely download anything (and the ones I do download are reliable), I'm just searching for one as a backup. For situations like what happened with puush, that's what I'm after.

Malwarebytes Premium stands out as the essential tool for those who aren’t prone to clicking every advertisement or installing unknown software. It’s likely the top antivirus solution available due to its strong backing by savvy security experts and its high-quality design, far surpassing the typical performance of standard antivirus programs.

Kaspersky and bitdefender are both solid choices. I'm really glad I didn't notice a "common sense 2015" recommendation.
