I was weighing 3900X versus 5800X, both available for around 415€. I believe the 3900X might handle the job better thanks to its extra cores, while the 5800X offers more overclocking potential and a larger single-thread performance. As for power consumption and temperatures, I’m not sure yet.

For this job I intended a budget CPU, because some high-spending individuals would include as many cores as possible using a Threadripper or EPYC.

I get it, I was just teasing. You don’t really grasp how intense my tasks are, so planning a budget for that app makes perfect sense. Still, I’d pick the latest CPU unless extra cores offer real benefits.

It wouldn't provide a complete picture. Checking Task Manager or Resource Monitor alone doesn't confirm full core usage, and seeing high utilization might not reflect actual performance gains from the 3900x.

In this scenario, the 5800x already offers double the cores/threads compared to your current CPU. When paired with the enhanced IPC performance of the Ryzen 5xxx line versus the 3xxx series, it still seems like a stronger choice in my opinion.
