Hi everyone, I checked the TP-Link TL-SG1005D and TL-SG105 but couldn't spot a clear distinction. Any thoughts or alternatives could help? Thanks!

I've experienced strong results using the Netgear GS205 and GS208 devices. These models include activity indicators on every port, which the alternatives lack. They deliver outstanding performance across my entire GBE network.

Compare SG1005D and SG105 SG105, launched in 2012 and 2015 respectively. The newer models are available—opt for the updated version.

Newer options are also more affordable these days, I'm not sure about the reason.

What’s available in terms of ports and current discounts? Unless you require a smart switch, the most affordable option works well if it comes from a trusted brand and retailer with reliable warranty support.

It's not a 1000Mbs or Gigabit connection—it's just 100Mbs. If you're aiming for Gigabit (1000Mbs), the TL-SG105 EDIT: $H! T, I thought you wrote SF1005D SG1005D is Gigabit all right. Edited June 6, 2018 by vojta.pokorny stupid me.

Most unmanaged switches provide similar performance with minimal variation for residential use. You typically choose based on speed, number of ports, and appearance. I often select Trendnet metal gig models, as they're essentially interchangeable.

Used TP-Link SG1005D, achieved 70-90 Mbps speeds. A solid deal for the 15€ price tag.
