Are the remaining equipment compatible with a 2.5GbE link? Both sides and the routers must be able to handle it for increased performance.

I have a 10GbE port on the back and a 1GbE port for my friend, but I’m not sure what’s inside them.

There are various 10GbE standards available. You can either purchase a used switch or proceed with a direct link if needed.

Add a switch to connect Pi devices and your other PC to the NAS, though the add-in card only supports 10 GbE.

You're not finding a new 10GbE switch under $50. For a genuine 10GbE setup, the best choice would be a refurbished model such as the S2500, though they're still around $100. Plus, you'll have to handle a noisy switch.

It's true. I would have liked to know more about that before purchasing the GS108, which is a bit pricier.
