Hello, I found several Z690 DDR5 motherboards priced between $215 and $230. The options include ASRock, Z690 models from MSI, MAG, and TUF. For a 12600K CPU, you’ll want a board with strong overclocking support and reliable stability.

Used MSI Pro Z690-A WiFi with an i5-13600K successfully. After overclocking, it consumed around 700 watts and performed exceptionally well.

That’s clearly an issue, just like the 11GHz result on my 7950x3D with an 8+0 setup. Going beyond 400W on a 2x8pin EPS is even doubtful, especially at 676W.

On a cinebench test it's around 325W, it surged up to that level

When deciding between similar motherboards at comparable prices, focus first on the rear I/O layout. This can make a noticeable difference and is often subjective, yet sometimes objective. If that doesn’t help decide, examine the headers and determine which setup suits your needs—such as fan placement, USB ports, EPS, M.2 slots, etc. Next, dive into technical details like PCIe configuration, bifurcation support, and block diagrams related to PCIe/SATA. These aspects are typically advanced topics for enthusiasts building PCs in 2023. Unless you’re tied to a specific UEFI or brand preference, rear I/O usually comes out as the most important factor.

The 325W output sits right at the upper edge of what seems sensible, though the data you're using could have inflated it slightly and you were actually hitting around 340W during the highest moment. This is how I justified treating a 11GHz boost as essentially a 5.5GHz increase that got accidentally amplified in the logging tool.

Reviewed HWmonitor and HWinfo, it shows 325W usage and I was taken aback that an i5 could handle it.

Intel has mastered optimizing performance across various lithography levels. AMD's move to 5nm and 6nm while competing with 10nm highlights Intel's strong engineering. It would have been a tough situation for Intel if they were stuck at 7nm, especially given their shift to Skylake++. AMD faced significant market pressure in recent generations, which pushed them to improve.

Absolutely excited! I'm eager to have an i9 with 5nm technology and wondering what performance it will deliver. Also, curious about the limits of my VRM.

Intel has the potential to match MCM+3D v-cache using a single chip. The 13900k demonstrates impressive cache capacity for such a compact design. Progress is limited by lithography constraints, and reducing size allows more space for caching. @JohnnyShalos Your ideas on motherboard selection are appreciated, but I’ll wait until we’re on the same page before moving forward.
