Hello, I need a reliable setup to run both programs at once. My system is a ROG G750JH with 32GB RAM, Windows 10, a 780m GPU with 4GB VRAM and an i7-4700HQ CPU. I want to boost FPS in Arma 3 specifically. Ideally, a 20% improvement in stable performance should handle the heat well since the cooling is top-notch. (I’m not sure about this yet.) Thanks for any advice, especially from people who have overclocked their G750JH.

Avoid relying on built-in overclocking tools or third-party applications. I attempted a simple overclock using my Asus utility, but it caused several issues with my system afterward.

It's understandable you're cautious about stability. When Intel CPUs with turbo are overclocked, the boost typically increases as well. Your current setup runs at 2.4GHz base with a boost to 3.4GHz, aiming for around 2.88GHz. You're looking for a more stable baseline of about 4GHz or higher, possibly by fine-tuning the boost speed rather than relying on full overclocking.

For the CPU, it usually runs into the BIOS to boost performance. With the GPU, tools like Afterburner work well.

Overclocking a laptop isn't advised, but you can enhance your GPU using Afterburner. It seems the CPU might not support overclocking. Consider BIOS updates or using ClockGenor for Intel XTU.

Sure, I should note that this applies only to the CPU.

ARMA 3 experiences poor frame rates due to weak server performance, which isn't your responsibility. I wouldn't suggest boosting your laptop's GPU or CPU because it will generate more heat. Since I already have an Alienware M14X R1, I understand the risks of overclocking. If you still want to try, use BIOS overclocking if available; otherwise, consider the software "SETFSB" to check if your CPU FSB is unlocked. Generally, it's safer to overclock through BIOS rather than external tools.

CPU lacks multiplier OC support. Even with software fixes like Intel Extreme Tuning, adjustments are limited to base clock changes, offering minimal improvement. Expect higher heat generation, making voltage increases impractical. Curious about the temperatures during stress tests? For GPUs, MSI Afterburner is used, but similar issues arise. Power consumption and heat output will increase significantly, potentially overloading the power supply.

Use a task manager or to-do app to organize your items.

Running 3DMark or CINEBENCH should suffice at the moment. These tests are fairly gentle. For stable OC performance, use Unigine Heaven, Aida64, OCCT, or Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. Keep an eye on your temperatures with tools like HWmonitor, OpenHardwareMonitor, MSI Afterburner or similar.
