People are curious about this drive encryption software, especially for protecting important data like your dad's files. It seems they're looking for reliable options similar to Truecrypt, seeking effective protection for sensitive information.

windows comes with a native option, but I don’t feel too fond of it, so I’m on your side about this.

You're on Windows 7, which I think is outdated and not recommended. But thanks for reaching out!

It's running on Windows 7. Please wait while I check how it functions. Edit: Right-click the drive and select BitLocker to see if it works for files; you might also need to partition the drive.

You can still use truecrypt, though diskcryptor performs much better, especially on SSDs. It functions properly with Windows 7. BitLocker is likely only available in "professional" editions of Windows. Remember to always create backups! Any issues during or after encryption leave you without a chance to recover your data.
