After sleeping and waking up, I noticed the ASUS Prime X870 with Wi-Fi CST is already in my room. After building this device, do I have to update the BIOS of the X870? Is that necessary? Should I review the BIOS details such as PBO, PBO scalar, expo, FCLK, UCLK, MCLK, etc. before proceeding? What are the key points to check after assembling the 9800x3D? I would appreciate your advice on whether I need to purchase the 9800x3D.

Begin by utilizing the BIOS flashback function to upgrade your BIOS to the most recent version (non-beta) compatible with your board. This process doesn't require installing the CPU, RAM, or GPU.

Next, verify baseline performance and stability by enabling only EXPO/XMP. Avoid making any other adjustments. Ensure your cooling system is sufficient and that your CPU and GPU remain within safe operating temperatures.

Once stable, you can proceed to configure settings for performance or overclocking. This step will be handled in a separate thread.

Occasionally the x870 motherboard allows power limits to reach unlimited values such as TDC, PPT, EDC at 1000, which is dangerous and may lead to instability. Do you know the proper maximum settings?

I recently set up 9800x3d and x870 asus prime. After turning off xmp, the CPU runs hot during idle at about 50 degrees and the clock speed is near 5 ghz. Thank you for your previous CPU support.
