Tomb raider surge disrupts system within initial half-second
Your computer stops working after roughly 30 seconds of playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, forcing a restart and showing an error screen. The issue seems limited to this game during its initial moments. Your system specs are: Intel Core i7 3770K, MSI GTX 1060, 6GB RAM, 750W power supply. It appears only this game causes the problem at those early seconds. Other demanding games didn’t have the same issue. What steps can you take?
Reinstall the game on steam. Don't try to fix hardware issues until you know it isn't a software issue.
I attempted this after recently swapping my PC case and GPU, thinking something might be loose. But everything seems fine. The interesting part is this is the only game I’ve developed a crush on so far. My power supply I’m aware isn’t top-notch—maybe it’s time for an upgrade—but I didn’t realize that during setup. It’s been five years now, and it’s still worked well. Also, I don’t think this is the issue here, though it could be. PSU model: LC-Power 8750 II v2.2, 750Watt.
And dude, even if it functions, make sure to upgrade the power supply. Your current one is outdated and over five years old. With such high-tech components, it's wise to opt for a modern PSU. Edited January 2, 2017 by govindjoshi Additional info: component age and performance concerns
