Tomb Raider debuts on January 28th
It really doesn’t count if you decide to play, since you’re not risking anything—zero stakes involved. The first attempt turned out quite well.
I understand, avoiding a rushed final step is a good approach.
It seems the game was likely finished for every platform before release, much like the DLCs for GTA IV. Microsoft delayed the official launch. Performance was consistent across all systems, even on PC which had its own issues.
Sure, I initially was really excited about it when it came out and thought I’d get it at launch. But I found out it wasn’t available on PC yet. After that, I started playing Battlefront and lost interest. I’m not sure why you think otherwise—it sounds like your explanation doesn’t quite add up.
It’s very likely Square Enix anticipated this delay for the PC release long ago. The project might have been nearly complete before being paused, possibly due to financial considerations. Nixxes handled the Rise of the Tomb Raider port and has a strong history with titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Thief, Tomb Raider, and Hitman: Absolution. I remain hopeful despite the wait. The game’s performance on PC could signal a shift in how Square Enix approaches exclusivity agreements. Xbox sales have struggled, so a successful PC launch would clearly convey their business strategy moving forward. If the game turns out well and performs well on PC, it would reinforce their future plans.
It's because the experience feels unchanged after a short time, making it less appealing.
The excitement faded, at least that’s what I thought. A few months back I had no games left to play and the only one I really wanted was Tomb Raider. I was about to buy it when I found out it was a time-limited exclusive for Xbox One, so I swapped it in for Battlefront and planned to get the game later. Now I just don’t feel like waiting. The main reason I wanted it originally was because I had nothing else to play.
