I updated Windows 10 this morning without entering my name, using just my phone number instead. My login name is my phone number. Changing it back to my real name seems tricky—Microsoft didn’t make it easier compared to Windows 8, which was quicker to set up.

The simplest method to set up an online Windows account during installation is to remove it from the internet, so it won’t prompt for login. Alternatively, you can generate a separate account where you don’t have access to the sign-in information.

Turn off the machine, remove its connection to the network (cut the Ethernet cord), and then restart it.

I set up Windows 10 multiple times on different devices, but I've never seen this issue before. It appears to be a setting from the installation process.

It seems the setup might have failed due to missing information or a connection issue. Double-check your details and cables.

I reinstalled without the Ethernet cable. It came with my name and a password. No PIN or email was needed. Who decided Microsoft should require a PIN or email for login? They should have been more user-friendly—HFCS and Feathered would be better.
