You're exploring a method to speed up launching Sims 3 while keeping it on your HDD. I've tried setting the base game on an SSD and moving expansions to a HDD—wondering if this would help with loading times since many content is already there. Let me know if others have similar experiences!

You're a dedicated Sims 3 player looking to boost performance. The key is leveraging your storage setup—using an SSD paired with a fast CPU. Since the game compresses all content, saves, and more, each load requires unpacking data. A straightforward method is to install the base game, expansions, and custom content on the same SSD drive; this prevents delays from multiple drives. If possible, consider overclocking your CPU or upgrading it, though an SSD will still provide a noticeable improvement over a slower system.

Memory issues keep popping up again. SSD seems like the best choice, completely in favor of that. Any other suggestions? Try using less custom content—it can sometimes cause performance drops. Delete mods if you have any from NRAAS or elsewhere. I think NRAAS is the most widely used. Cut out the pets expansion too; it caused my game to become nearly unplayable with lag and stuttering.

The main change I made was buying a larger SSD. They didn’t fix the slow loading speeds, but it should help. Thanks!
