To assess your 13700K signs of degradation, analyze their performance and condition over time.
Hey everyone. My 13700K was bought three months ago and I haven’t used it much, except for gaming where the CPU stays under 15% load. Everything works fine. I haven’t updated the BIOS recently, just because the last time I did that it caused issues. Do you have any tests or checks to see if there’s a decline in performance from the 13/14 generation CPUs?
Not updating the BIOS increases the chance that your tests could worsen the issue.
Intel made a mistake with the microcode on today's processors. Updating your BIOS will help protect your CPU.
Every processor is slowly losing performance. Even without noticeable issues, your CPU has been affected in a minor way, but it shouldn’t cause major problems soon. View this as a gradual reduction in its capabilities. If it still functions, it retains some functionality. There’s no clear method to confirm actual damage, but you might spot signs of failure if you run stress tests. Use both simulated and random workloads, including those known to cause crashes on certain Intel models—like compiling shaders for the Last of Us P1. If you suspect degradation, consider filing a return merchandise authorization to help Intel address the issue.
Refresh the bios and select one of Intel's profiles to maintain stability in the future. Avoid interfering with their RMA process.
Verify that Windows Bitlocker is turned off and your disc is completely decrypted. Those who update BIOS with Bitlock enabled often wish they had made different choices... Stick to the manual; with Asus it typically requires updating Intel ME and other Asus components, which leads to a restart afterward. Let it run until it asks you to configure BIOS settings. In BIOS settings post-update, confirm whether it's using one of Intel's profiles.
