Tips with overclocking
I'm beginning my first OC project. I set the voltage to 1.25. After booting the PC at 4.2 and 4.3 GHz, everything worked fine. Then I increased it to 4.5 and started running prime95 blend. My HWmonitor is active, and the CPU with the water cooler is currently running at 68-70 degrees. Would it help if I ran prime95 for a few hours? Any indication yet whether I have a good overclocker or a faulty CPU? i5 4690k, h100i gtx
Once you finish with your Prime95 test, consider using a program such as RealBench or AIDA64.
Prime95 Blend mentions
that it checks a large amount of RAM, but it's not accurate. Both RealBench and AIDA64 will evaluate significantly more RAM along with your CPU and GPU.
Ensure you have the correct version installed if using prime95 for stability. Newer releases utilize hardware acceleration on Haswell processors, which can create unrealistic thermal demands.
After more than two hours of running prime95, my CPU maintained a steady temperature between 60-70°C. The highest readings reached around 80°C, but this only lasted for a brief moment and never returned. The system operated at 4.5ghz with a voltage of 1.25V.
