I am looking to purchase a USB 3 gen 1 (5 Gbps) pen drive, preferably around 256 GB. I already own several USB 3 models, mainly from SanDisk.
I tried all three under similar testing conditions using the Crystal Disk Mark app with NTFS format. The results were inconsistent.

Sequential Read Write MB/S
SanDisk Ultra 16 GB (10 years old)
135 MB Read
70 MB Write
SanDisk Ultra 16 GB (about 4 years old)
150 MB Read
11 MB Write
SanDisk Flair 64 GB (2 years old)
150 MB Read
24 MB write

I noticed that within the same brand, the older models perform much better. The newer ones seem to lag behind the USB 3 specifications.
I’m curious if companies are cutting quality now. Anyone have an opinion on which model currently offers better write speeds? The specs don’t mention write speeds clearly—read speeds are stated up to 150 MB/s.

For what purpose?
They're just temporary tools... a quick connection.
The 'speed' isn't a big deal here.

Yes, this setup will create a single backup pen drive that copies data from another drive to it periodically from your laptop. I'm curious about the reason for the significant speed differences among similar products despite comparable prices.
