Tips for overclocking Core i7 6700K
Hi,
I'm testing the overclocking of my I7 6700k to 4.5GHz with an Asrock Z170 Extreme4, Thermalright Macho Rev b and a Corsair 400C setup. The configuration includes two front-mounted 140mm fans and one 120mm fan at the back. In Prime v2.8 with 1.28V (offset +50), the temperatures are maxed out at 82°C on one core, while others stay between 68-75°C. Is this safe for the 6700k? I'm checking the readings with RealTemp. Thanks!
these are excellent temperatures for running P95 version 2.8, but testing with version 26.6 is recommended as it avoids the 110% workload that leads to unusually high temperatures due to AVX stress testing. For more details, refer to the Intel Temperature Guide section 13 in the CPU forums.

I’ve already heard about Prime v2.8 being somewhat unusual to test. In games like Fallout4, BF4 MP, etc., the temps are typically around 50-60 °C.
