Tips for fixing RED VGA led issues on MB
Hello, two months ago I had to relocate and left my PC with friends. Now I received it and found that my GPU isn’t connecting to two different monitors using both HDMI and DP cables. I tested HDMI with my laptop and everything worked fine. I performed several basic troubleshooting steps—disconnecting all peripherals, checking all GPU video ports, resetting CMOS and re-seating the GPU—but a bright red VGA light kept shining. When I powered on the PC, it emitted a beep and fans started, and the GPU LEDs lit up. I also noticed my keyboard didn’t light up after booting, which was something I wanted to remember.
The PC is about two and a half years old. It hasn’t been used for mining, just for occasional gaming. It wasn’t used at all for almost two months, and by the end of June it was running perfectly with almost the same configuration (now only new monitors are connected).
Here are the specifications:
- Gigabyte AORUS P GM 850 W, 80+ Gold Certified, Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
- Intel Core i7-12700KF, 3.6 GHz, 12-core processor
- ASRock Z790 PG LIGHTNING ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
- Kingston Fury Beast, 8GB x2 RAM
- Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, 8 GB Video Card
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can try to fix this issue on my own. I don’t have another PC or GPU for testing, so that’s not an option.
Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB Video Card can be donated to a friend or neighbor with a stable, more powerful power supply. You might also attempt to obtain a custom-built, higher-wattage PSU and test whether the problem continues on your setup.
If the issue remains, it may indicate a faulty motherboard, possibly due to a corrupt BIOS. Unfortunately, your motherboard doesn’t have any BIOS recovery options or built-in flashing tools to reprogram the chip.
