Tips for enhancing the Intel Pentium G3258 performance
Hey everyone, I'm putting together a parts list on PC Partpicker and want to build a system with a Pentium G3258 for overclocking. I've picked the Asrock H97 Anniversary edition because it's meant for this chipset and it's really affordable. My goal is to push the clock speed into the 3.8 to 4.0 GHz range. I'm wondering if my current cooler will suffice or if I should opt for a better aftermarket solution. Thanks for your help!
You have the Z97 Anniversary with your i5-4460: lol. It should have a menu for choosing frequency, but the stock might be fine. Just test the temperatures and if they're high, consider getting an aftermarket one.
Well yes but there is a difference between h81 and z97 chipset.... you know
There are differences between h81 and z97 chipset. Performance benchmarks match if clock speed and memory are identical. Faster memory works better on z97, but real gains are limited when memory exceeds 1600mhz. You can use two graphics cards in SLI on a z97, though it's not common. A GTX 970 suffices for most tasks, and better Pascal chips are coming soon. H81 supports up to 16Gb RAM, which is enough for everyday use. A faster SSD is possible on some z97 models, but Sata III is sufficient for most users.
You overlooked the pci 3.0 or 2x3.0 specifications
The OC ability
The m.2 socket
Additional sata ports
You didn’t catch the superior power delivery offered by the z97
Additional ports
Higher quality components
Dual bios multiple times
1000 software features they support
No USB 3 support (header)
We can keep discussing this all day... but it’s a thread about something else than that
