Tips for DDR4 memory
I currently have 32GB of ADATA RAM and experience some stuttering during streaming or video playback when resources are heavy. I’m considering upgrading to 64GB (two 32GB sticks) for smoother performance. Your specs are listed in your profile—what recommendations do you have? Just plug and play is fine, though enabling XMP might help. I’m open to any good value options. Thanks!
Did you verify your memory consumption while experiencing frequent stutters? A 32GB capacity should suffice, but confirming it’s the issue is important before suggesting changes.
I repeated what it was doing and, surprisingly, it wasn’t the RAM issue I expected. Instead, the GPU would spike each time I saw stuttering. Interestingly, it only reached around 40% during those spikes—was that typical for stuttering even at such low usage?
I'm checking how the GPU is being used. I was looking at performance details, but some tools aren't reliable—Task Manager isn't perfect for this. During media encoding tasks, the encoder itself affects the reported GPU stats.
I was using Task Manager, so perhaps there is something more accurate to monitor. But with the spikes, that certainly suggests the GPU. Everything else was low and hardly moving. If I replace the GPU for more performance, I fear I will also need to upgrade my PSU. I'd have to look, but I believe I'm running a Corsair 750 80 Plus Gold
