Tips for building a budget PC in Malaysia
Hey everyone, I'm from Malaysia and am searching for a 1080p gaming PC under RM3000 (or even less if possible). That would be roughly 640-650 USD. I work in an office and usually come back late, so I’ll probably use it mainly on weekends for casual gaming with older or mid-range titles at 1080P. I don’t own a PC yet, but I have the monitor, keyboard, and other stuff. Since I won’t use it daily (I already have a laptop for work), I’m trying to keep costs low. I’ll mainly shop on platforms like Shopee or Lazada and might pick it up locally to save on shipping (I rent in central KL).
For now, I’m considering games like Nier Automata, Marvel’s Spider-Man, GTA V, Halo Infinite, and maybe a bit of Hogwarts Legacy. My current setup looks like this: CPU Ryzen 5 5500 (RM359) MOBO Option 1 (RM534): Asrock B550M Phantom Gaming 4 (RM410) + Asus PCE-AX3000 (RM120) OR Option 2 (RM489): MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI RAM Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 8GB*2 3200Mhz (RM175) SSD Kingston NV2 1TB (RM238). I’ll likely use this as a gaming rig, since I already have a PCIE3 500GB SSD for booting and can swap in an extra 1TB SATA drive if needed.
The GPU is still on the decision—should I go with Sapphire Pulse RX6600 (RM989) or Asrock Intel Arc A750 (RM899)? I’m also considering a cooler Master MWE Bronze 600W (RM235) and a case TECWARE Nexus Air M2 with three 120mm fans (RM149).
Since I’ll mainly use it for gaming and casual play, do you think this build is solid? Any tips or alternatives would be appreciated!
I won't receive an A750 for older games because their drivers aren't reliable and perform poorly with old renderers. Also, verify if you can obtain SAM/reBar, which is essential for Arc cards.
Thanks for the suggestion! I chose the RX6600 after reading your comment. Have a great day!
