Hello, I’m considering an upgrade. My current setup includes a Ryzen 7 1700, 16GB RAM at 3000MHz from GSKILL, and a Gigabyte Aorus Gaming K5 motherboard with a 1070 SC from EVGA. I’m thinking about moving to a CPU upgrade. As a software developer working remotely and a gamer, I’m interested in the Zen 3 lineup. I understand this would mean replacing my current motherboard and possibly getting faster RAM, which could let me sell CPUs as bundles. I plan to get a new GPU next year, likely from AMD, aiming for something like the 6800 series for smooth gaming at 3440x1440p at 144Hz. My main question is whether to go with a 5600X or a 5800X. In Romania, prices are around 330 euros for the 5600X and 480 euros for the 5800X. A 3800X is about 390 euros. Both options are solid from a gaming standpoint. I’m not sure if the extra cores would be worth it since my current 1700 already has plenty of cores, and I rarely hit more than 40% usage while working. I work in web development, manage multiple servers locally, handle databases, and run many programs—so I’m curious about future-proofing with more cores. The price difference is significant (about 50%), but I’m unsure if it’s worth it. What do you think? Zen3 is the last generation for this socket, so it won’t offer a clear upgrade path in the near future.
