Current specifications include an AsRock A320m HDv R4 Ryzen 5 3400G with 16GB RAM, an Asetek AIO CPU cooler, a 500W PSU. I previously discussed upgrading to a better graphics card, but most parts are out of stock. It was suggested to replace the CPU before purchasing a decent GPU, possibly opting for the Ryzen 7 3700X, which may require a new motherboard. I’m open to options but prefer not to overclock. I plan to upgrade the PSU later and likely get a dedicated GPU as well. Most games I play are CPU-intensive, so I think improving the CPU and motherboard would be more beneficial now. The specific motherboard I considered isn’t linked in my current search. Any advice would be appreciated!

I intend to purchase a GPU and was considering the Radeon 5700X, though I remain open to other ideas. I understand I won’t require something extreme like a 2080, but the urgent priority is a quicker CPU—especially improved single-core speed for the games I’m currently playing, while keeping multi-core performance solid for future titles.
It's a solid start with the GPU. But think about your CPU and motherboard setup too. Upgrading both might make sense if you need better performance, or you could test with just the GPU first to see what works before investing more.
This board works with the processor, but for better performance you should consider upgrading to something like a Tomahawk Max, which comes with 3rd generation Ryzen chips by default. For budget options, the 3300X or 1600A are suitable. A bit more would bring you to the 3600, and the 3700X would be the next step in price.
It seems the RX580 might fit your setup since it doesn’t require extra power beyond what the board provides. Would it be more advantageous to purchase the GPU now, then wait for the 4th Gen Ryzen release later this year, and potentially secure a better price on the 3700x or similar? I apologize for any confusion, as I’ve only recently started working with Windows systems after my iMac stopped working.
Non-G Ryzens require a GPU for performance beyond quad-core systems, except for Intel platforms.
I’d choose a discrete GPU for the NVIDIA 2060 right now. With Ampere on the way and big price drops expected for current models like the 2060 and 2070, it makes sense to invest in performance. I own a laptop with a 2060 and a 9300H CPU, and benchmarks show games are always GPU-intensive. Even a 2060 runs Red Dead Redemption 2 quite well! AMD is returning for CPUs again, but for GPUs I’d stick with NVIDIA thanks to its value.
