Should I choose an ASUS ROG Strix X570-E gaming or a ROG Crosshair VIII Hero? CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X GPU: ASUS ROG 2080 Super Cooler: Deepcool Captain 240 Pro V2 RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z OS: Microsoft OSX Pro (what’s the point of this?) Thanks again! Updated: Other choices include Crosshair VIII Formula, Prime X570 Pro (needed for ASUS compatibility).
Only these choices are available. Other models like the b550 tomhawk mag or x570-p aren’t needed. You don’t require an overly complex board.
When considering an overclock, an X570 board could be a good choice because of its superior VRM cooling and power delivery. However, these options are quite advanced and may not be necessary for most users. A quick reminder: current PC component prices in North America are often higher due to recent events like COVID-19. It’s wise to check the price trends on PCPartPicker before purchasing to ensure you’re getting a fair deal.
The calculation works better technically, but choose the more affordable option.
The Prime X570-Pro provides nearly all the features you require, with power output strong enough for a 3950X using PBO. The X570-E offers marginally improved VRMs and Wi-Fi compared to the Pro, while the Hero includes a POST code display. It also boasts additional overclocking capabilities and superior power delivery over the X570-E, though unless you intend for extreme subzero overclocking, those extras may not be essential.
