I have an Asus n56jr and it gets slow by about half speed. I underclocked the processor and undervolted it by -70 mV. The CPU temps stayed low and everything was working well. But when I started playing Battlefield 4, my graphics card (GTX 760m) dropped from 110-145 FPS to stuttering after about five minutes. After that, the thermal throttling got over 50%. This only happens when the GPU is on. When just the CPU is used, temps stay between 70 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, but with the GPU running they shoot up past 90 degrees. The games stop being playable. Are there any fixes?

Try this first, you need to completely take out all the old drivers. Go here: http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU Make sure to pick the specific company like Nvidia or ATI and uninstall them. Then choose clean restart and install the new ones after restarting your computer. What is your budget?

Does your computer have an outdated processor? If so, try putting on some new thermal grease and add a fan to cool things down better.

Alan Caldwell: Is this laptop really old? Try putting fresh thermal paste on the fans and adding a cooling pad. This computer is actually pretty new, it's been less than a year since I bought it. Sure, I can take care of that for you, but first I want to check if there are any software issues. Are these special "laptop vacuums" good for your machine?

Try this step by step. First, you must get rid of all old driver software completely. Go here: http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU. Make sure to pick out the right company like Nvidia or ATI so they get removed. Pick the clean and restart choice if available. Then install the fresh drivers once your computer comes back on. How much money can you spend?

I actually figured it out. I just needed to turn the frame rate down to 60 frames per second. My computer stays around 87 or 89 degrees Celsius, so it's not slowing down because of heat. THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE ANSWERS!

I found lots of videos on how to take apart an N56J laptop, but they all say not to do that. None of them actually show the laptop working again after it's taken apart. How can I cool it down from the side or make the processor run cooler? I'm just not using it at full power right now. Some comments also mention that the screen is hard to put back together, but are there any settings I can change to keep temperatures lower on this CPU?

Hey everyone, I'm starting this as a brand new discussion. The people who started it back in the day have mostly left. If you have something specific to say or need help with, please jump into our fresh topic instead of using an old one.
