Hello, I'm looking for some guidance. A year ago I achieved a speed of 4.9Ghz with my 5950x at full load during Cinebench testing. Recently, when I tried again, I noticed the performance dropped to around 3.7Ghz, and temperatures hovered near 50°C. Could you help identify what might be causing this issue? I'm currently stuck at 3.7Ghz with similar temperatures. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Also, could you let me know any additional details about my system?
I’m around 4.5 to 4.9 across most cores. I can attempt a reset, which includes turning off the XMP settings, and then check if it works. Yes, using Auto OC.
Ensure the cooler has a solid mount and sits securely. Verify the thermal paste isn’t pitted or bubbly. Consider PBO for CPU underclocking if needed. Since I don’t know your cooler model, it’s tough to guarantee stock performance. You might try similar setups to improve temperatures, but always prioritize a well-fitting cooler first.
Cooling is perfectly okay; CPU idle stays around 45-50°C. This is what’s causing my confusion—during Cinebench it never reaches even 75°C, whereas I expected up to about 90°C. I’m using the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports DUO and watching a YouTube video. It’s always in performance mode.
You're experiencing unusually low core voltages, which raises concerns about power delivery. It might be worth testing other configurations or running some diagnostics. I recommend trying a manual "dirty" overclock and locking it at 4.5Ghz with voltages between 1.4 to 1.45V. This approach isn't optimized but could help if the issue lies in the BIOS or standard settings.
