The updates from Intel and Dell have resolved some problems, but ThrottleStop has now stopped working and your custom settings are no longer active. This is disappointing because your laptop tends to overheat easily. It’s unclear how long you’ll wait for the ThrottleStop team to fix this issue, though they’re known for strong development skills. In my view, this could be a significant improvement for all laptops, but it seems this fix might be targeted mainly at Dell users.
The creator of ThrottleStop isn't able to resolve this issue. Intel has turned off CPU voltage control and turbo ratio adjustments in their newest microcode release. Once done, enter BIOS and choose reset settings to default values—this may help on some systems. If it fails, you're left with a very hot laptop. Edit – Another possibility is removing the Windows file that holds the microcode update. This won't work if the problem stems from a BIOS update. Always back up this file before deleting it. I know this is a pretty late reply but god damn that sucks... stupid intel screwing up their own secruity and making us all suffer... ugh. thanks though this was really helpful
