Hey there, I just got this ASUS B150M-A/M.2 board and when I power it up, the fans start spinning and the orange lights flicker. Then I hear this odd beep sequence: three quick beeps, pause, then another three beeps. It sounds like this pattern—Beep, Beep, Beep, PAUSE, Beep, Beep, Beep. I’ve tried a few fixes: I swapped out the RAM from DDR4 2666mhz to DDR4 2166mhz, removed the CMOS battery and held the power button for 30 seconds before replacing it. But the beep code keeps coming up and I can’t access the BIOS. Am I done with this board?

It clearly points to memory problems. Swapping it and still facing the same trouble suggests the motherboard might be faulty, especially if the CPU’s memory controller is on the CPU. Could you test another CPU on that board or try it on a different motherboard (such as a friend’s or another PC)?

Are you asking if you should inspect the pins on the CPU? The only bent pin I notice is on a USB connector. Could that impact performance?

Yes, if they're in contact. You can switch off power and unplug the PSU, wait until no lights are on at all, use a solid plastic tool to bend the pin back so you can connect the USB plug. If you hear beeps, it usually means the MB and CPU are okay. So you should still receive the 6 beeps even without RAM.

Hi @Cyberat and @191x7, I took a moment to inspect the CPU. I took it out of the socket and checked all the pins—everything looks fine. After that, I applied some new thermal paste. The bent USB pin isn’t touching any other pins, so it shouldn’t be the issue. It still triggers three quick beeps, then pauses and repeats three more, followed by a complete stop. That’s unusual; I’m not sure if there’s another code or something different happening.

If it was just two 64k base RAM failures, it might have emitted only three beeps when you had a single stick of RAM installed.
