As mentioned in the title, I've experienced three boot drives that are stuck on the BIOS screen, preventing access even with another bootable drive connected. After restarting my PC, the issue started only with Windows-based systems, suggesting a potential hardware problem. I attempted a CMOS reset, couldn't format the drives due to the stated reason, and tried various drives and cables. My concern is whether this points to a motherboard fault or if another solution is needed. Thanks in advance.

Not good man, all drives suddenly doing that is a major problem. I'd unplug the whole motherboard and just plug one slab of memory, CPU, PSU, one drive, see if it goes into bios after connecting it all. See if it continues with the problem.

You installed Ubuntu on the old hard drive, but when you switched to the Windows SATA SSD, the system started working normally.

Ubuntu functions properly. It seems other storage devices are malfunctioning. If I were you, you'd pick Ubuntu or install Windows on a stable drive. Alternatively, stick with Ubuntu, though its gaming speed might lag behind Windows.

I was thinking about switching to Linux but was really worried about losing data, so I checked to confirm it wasn’t a Windows problem before installing another drive.

It looks like some drives with Windows installed are broken. You might be able to change the format on Ubuntu and start fresh with a new Windows setup. It’s best to purchase Windows directly from Microsoft.

I don't know if Windows blocks your account under those circumstances. It might depend on how the software is configured or whether it's using a specific version with restrictions. If you're experiencing issues with multiple windows, checking your account settings or contacting support could help clarify.

I think it's likely the latest version available.

It's not the cause you think. It appears the issue started after using the Ubuntu drive, possibly due to a motherboard problem. Have you tested other drives in different slots? Did you consistently insert the remaining drives into the same slots?
