I checked for available TR units and only found pre-orders. I was browsing on Newegg right after launch and saw nothing but pre-order options. I’ve placed pre-orders at three different stores, searched forums and Discord, but no one has received a unit or had it shipped. Microcenters didn’t have any discussions, B&H also didn’t list anything. I haven’t checked Amazon yet. Any suggestions?
In reality, most new processors released over the past few years have gone beyond just theoretical presentations.
3950x was actually available on day 1. The nearest store had 50 units. I could have picked one up at Microsource on Monday, but I don’t need it. In contrast, the 3960x and 3970x weren’t anywhere to be found.
Sounds like most folks here aren’t using them at all. They seem unnecessary for the majority.
I looked at a nearby shop and saw they have the 3960x available right now. If several people wanted one, they’d run out quickly. The 3970x is labeled “special order,” so it’s only brought in on request and not kept in stock regularly. This applies to low quantities of high-end items.
Let me know which stores you're interested in, I can help you find the best option. Thanks!
