Hello, I'm considering purchasing a third-generation ThreadRipper to use with Rip software for our company. The key requirement is Windows Server 2019 compatibility. Do any of you have experience with the third-gen Trx40 and can confirm if Windows Server supports it?

The idea that it wouldn't work stems from its design as a general-purpose OS rather than one tailored for high-end enterprise CPUs. It supports a wide range of x86-64 hardware, making it versatile for various environments.

It seems the product details focus on AMD sockets rather than Windows Server 2019. It’s possible it won’t be referenced directly, but functionality remains uncertain.

I've moved a Windows Server 2012 VM from a Windows 10 VM onto a Ryzen 3700X. Right after startup, the OS displayed a large flash screen warning it wasn't compatible with the hardware. To get certain components to function, I had to modify drivers and install them manually, which was a frustrating process and raised concerns about system stability. I worry there could be issues with the processor handling threads, making the system slow and unreliable—especially if I don't fully utilize its capabilities.

Entire set of third generation Threadripper models offers consistent memory access, unlike the second generation where some needed to retrieve data from another CCD. I don’t think it’s a problem on server 2019. Looking at other forum discussions, there seems to be no reference to compatibility issues.

No one has shared their personal results about installing Windows Server 2019 on a third-gen Trx40. Would you like me to look for general advice or check community forums?

There's never mention of server editions of windows i think. The TR2950x doesn't have it either and i have 1 running on server 2019. a 3rd gen TR can run on windows 10. So it can run server 2019. i give you my 100% guarantee on that. For drivers you can just use the win10 ones. Drivers work the same on server editions as the OS they're based on. Besides you can download server 2019 for free on the microsoft website and try it for 30 days (or is it 90? more?). Instead of asking, if you have the TR running, just try it. Not costing you anything, except time.

I don’t have it yet… but I’m figuring out what to purchase! I need Windows 2019 standard confirmed—just avoid buying gear that won’t work with the software.

My 3970X is lying around unused while I wait for the custom loop components. If you're okay with it, I can run server 2019 on it and try things out.

That would be amazing!! I rely solely on such tests that I haven't found online.
