Thoughts on my component selection for the Build Advice RTX 3070 aimed at 1080p gaming –
Hello everyone,
After careful consideration, I’m deciding to upgrade my PC while keeping only my MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 2X and my SSD. The parts I’ve selected so far are available here:

In a few months I plan to buy the Lian Li A3 mATX case, as soon as it’s back in stock near me. Until then, I’ll be using my Thermaltake Chaser A31. I’m opting for this A3 mATX because I anticipate needing to relocate next year and this micro ATX setup looks like a solid, affordable choice compared to a mini ITX configuration.
I was hoping to build a mini ITX system, but it seems tough to find budget-friendly components, and generally building a cheap mini ITX gaming rig isn’t the best idea.
I already have a 750W PSU, though it’s the CX750W with a green sticker. I thought swapping it would be better, but I’m not sure. At first I looked at the NZXT C750W Gold Plus (about 90 euros), but later I decided to go with the Enermax Revolution DF 850W.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Your setup appears okay. After the first POST, consider updating the BIOS to the newest version. You’ll need to reinstall the operating system because of the platform change. I already have a 750W PSU, but it’s the CX750W (green sticker). I thought replacing it would help—am I right?
Green-labeled units are really poor quality; they’re often worthless.
What budget did you plan for this build? How will it be used? You may want to note the titles and/or apps you intend to tax the system with.

I don’t have a strict budget limit, but I didn’t want to go over 700/800.
I’m planning to switch to the AM5 platform so I can upgrade later to the newest x3d available for that architecture.
I need a reasonably affordable chip that can run 1080p at 60FPS for a few years without lowering graphics settings (mostly single-player games).
It’s also a work machine for programming, but I’ll purchase a dedicated one later.
When I change the chip, I expect to use it professionally too, since my current machine will be returned after my research.
I’m aiming for a compact build because next year I’ll have to relocate for 12 months in Germany and want to take my PC with me.
This setup should fit my needs perfectly.
I agree with the 7600 option instead of the 7600x. I doubt I can really notice the game differences (I can always boost its speed).
