Thoughts on Intel's Xeon HBM2 announcement?
Impressed that this hasn't been talked about before, but Intel just revealed Xeon chips with up to 56 cores and 64GB of HBM2 memory. There are three different ways the HBM2 can operate, and you can even run the system without relying on Dram. I bet the costs will be steep and it's definitely not aimed at everyday users yet, but it's cool to watch how this develops. This could really shape future APU designs, maybe even leading to a HEDT setup or a mobile APU chip one day.
