Thoughts on GOG?
It looks like you're having difficulty launching Ultima, especially after the opening cut scene. Legend of Grimrock (II) was released in 2012, which is after 2005.
I prefer GOG the most among all digital distribution services. Most titles are more affordable there (especially for EU users). Their support and refund policy are solid—if a game fails, they’ll assist in fixing it or issue a refund. Of course, there’s a time limit, but you can’t complain about a game purchased months ago. I’ve already downloaded all the games, so I can play even with internet issues. They often provide great soundtracks and support older titles well, unlike some modern platforms like Steam. A downside is the lack of an automatic update system, but GOG Galaxy and a universal multiplayer backend are coming soon. Overall, GOG is the top choice for me before checking other options.
They also offer indie titles. Is that really a major concern? Most games tend to be older and released for outdated systems. I prefer them over Steam as a reseller. The website is simpler to use, the prices are fairer, and their summer sale is quite appealing.
Excited about the upcoming Gog Universe client—it seems like a great way to handle your games and setup, similar to Steam but without DRM. Plus, signing up for the Gog Galaxy beta means you’ll get AvP (2000) free. Have fun!
