Thoughts on Chrome OS Flex?
Chrome OS Flex is Google's version of running Chrome OS on devices that aren't traditional Chromebooks. It offers a way to use Chrome OS on non-chromebook hardware, potentially serving as an alternative to lighter Linux distributions like Lubuntu. What are your thoughts on this?
Taking a living data collector's expertise to install an OS isn't advisable.
Honestly don't see the advantage to this. You could just as easily install chrome on Linux and very likely have a more secure operating system with a lot less telemetry, which being on a rural US internet connection I think is important because the telemetry built into many of the popular applications can really kill my 1.5mb upload link and affect even my remote dns queries.
Microsoft handles this as well… ChromeOS is surprisingly flexible. It performs better than traditional Linux in my experience, and the Android app support is quite handy—though it might ruin your lunch break.
It wasn't always brunch at an alpha stage. It's nice to see Google releasing a solid initial version that likely gets better feedback and fewer issues.
Yes, but it was a really cool community project. and when I needed help with it one of the devs directly helped me on the discord server, I doubt that googles devs would do that
