Hey everyone. The beta versions of Evol were pretty impressive, though they’re still evolving. Do you think it lived up to your expectations? And are you still looking forward to the official release?

Sure, I enjoyed it but wasn't particularly surprised and soon lost interest. It felt like a standard scenario with a large creature destroying random objects.

Not really. There's no creative space for the players to do things differently each time. Whether you play the Monster or the Hunters, you always play the same way, there isn't any room for variation and experimentation. I played it once in the Big Alpha, realised it wasn't very good. Played it once again the the current Beta, remembered that it wasn't very good. It's a well polished game, but it becomes repetitive and boring.

It wasn't something I was anticipating, but it does look tidy. Still, I'm not excited about the hints they've given about how much DLC will be included—essentially saying it's been constructed from scratch.

I've only paid attention to it a bit, but I get excited when an alpha or beta is released. Regarding the quality and value, I wouldn't spend $60. The DLC feels like sneaky business moves and I'm really let down by the developers. For me, it's essentially cheap stuff, but if you're with friends who all like the game and enjoy it, it might be worth it. However, I think even my friends wouldn't play it for more than a day.

It seems like it would be more enjoyable with a group of friends, maybe while everyone is having a drink.

I’ve only tried the ALPHA and it didn’t work for me. The experience focused heavily on running and chasing a monster that tried to evade you until it became too powerful, then attacked everyone. The ALPHA also lacked clear explanations about weapons and classes, leaving many of you confused about what some items or abilities were. In short, without a strong overall gameplay and the ongoing controversy (many DLCs and expansions for an unfinished product), I wouldn’t be interested.

it wasn't great, felt pretty slow and the mouse didn't respond well. but the visuals are decent. as a hunter, you just follow the monster, move around it, and fire when it's open. that's about it—no much teamwork involved.

Lots of users shared codes on this forum, but I didn’t take the time because the game doesn’t seem very interesting and would likely bore me after a short while.
