I haven't built anything in years, yet I wanted to start with a daily gaming setup. I've looked as far as I can and B450 looks promising. I placed an order for an MSI B450 Mortar Titanium around $150, but have some concerns. I need support for 2nd and 3rd generation AMD chips while keeping a good number of USB ports. I understand the microATX will restrict port options. NVMe would be nice but isn't essential. RGB isn't important to me. Initially, I was considering a Ryzen 3 2200G, but I'm open to other ideas. I'm aiming to spend roughly $300 on the motherboard and processor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Is the large white PCB worth it? The X370 Xpower seems to be the top choice, but its availability is limited and it won't significantly outshine the Mortar. It's also considered one of the most expensive flagship boards recently.
I really don’t mind the color choice. I felt swamped by all the options and reviews, so I went with the one that caught my eye. Recently, I’ve started playing more games when I’m with coworkers and friends. That being said, a mAtX might not offer the best value for its size. I’m flexible on choosing an ATX for the motherboard. I’d like to stick with a second or third generation AMD. However, I’m unsure if the 470/570x would fit within my budget, though I have some flexibility there.
