I checked the details and found Warpinator already available for Linux Mint. I installed it on my Windows PC and it worked after matching the security key. Just keep in mind any security considerations when switching between operating systems.

When connecting directly to another LAN, problems are rare unless one of the two computers is breached. Since you're not a high-paying business, it's unlikely you'll face major issues. However, using a firewall and VPN can help manage who accesses your network from the internet.

I'm here to help clarify your goals. Could you share more about what you need or want to accomplish?

I used Winpinator (from Windows 11 to Debian 13). However, it appears to forward the entire folder to the other machine instead of just enabling access like the Windows Share feature does.

I retired from the board and the kids enjoy teasing me for using Sneaker net. So I decided to start simple and build up. It’s all about connecting locally or on the same Wi-Fi network (home router). Yes, I’ve seen this too, but it worked just fine for my needs. I’m just checking the speeds and making sure everything is secure. Thanks a lot—it proved it can work. As long as no one joins my Wi-Fi and steals the key, I should be safe. Unless they want a million pictures of my basset hound being silly.

On Linux, the equivalent is a Samba share (also known as SMB). You can find more details in the provided guides and forums links.
