I downloaded the Spider-Man remaster for my PC after reviewing several benchmark videos. My setup includes an i5-3470, a 1060 6GB RAM with 8GB DDR3, and a 1TB hard drive with a 64K allocation unit. In one of the videos, the player achieves 40-60 FPS at high settings, while I only manage around 30 FPS on low settings with AMD FSR 3 upscaling and V-sync enabled. The NVIDIA app caps performance at 60 FPS. Benchmarks show 22% for games, 79% for desktops, and 18% for work. CPU usage is 73.9%, GPU performance is 23.1%, and RAM utilization is 55.2%. It’s really challenging to play story games with active combat at these frame rates. Anyone have suggestions or solutions?

You're short on RAM compared to someone with more, and relying on an HDD for gaming. Have you thought about how different component quality can affect performance even if your GPU and CPU are similar?

the ram and hdd are handling things well, but the overall performance lags behind what you see in siege x.

I'm experiencing the same problem with GTA V, where it suddenly shifts abruptly for brief moments or in short bursts lasting one or two seconds.

your CPU is older than even the minimum spec, your ram is minimum spec, and your GPU meets recommended specs only. Then you have the game on a hard drive over an SSD, and i'd expect results like that. Theres probably not a ton of settings you could change to improve performance because you're at the bottom of the supported range. The same goes for GTAV these days. The minimum processor is a 4000 series intel, and youre on a 3000 series, and only an i5 at that. If that's also on your hard drive, the stutters are almost surely your system waiting for data from the hard drive to load in the world.

Open world experiences frequently switch data while you navigate. A lengthy journey may cause clear interruptions if information isn’t ready promptly (1). Insufficient RAM forces repeated loading from storage, intensifying the impact of slow disks. When files on the disk are compressed, a sluggish CPU slows down decompression, worsening the problem. If available memory drops too low, swapping to disk becomes more frequent, making things even harder. Even with a capable GPU and CPU, other parts can quickly become the bottleneck based on how a specific game or engine operates.

This game is designed for real performance, not for older storage devices. It needs an SSD because it must constantly fetch fresh information. A traditional hard drive won’t suffice—it won’t handle the demands. Plus, with your system already under minimum requirements, your CPU and RAM are even more constrained. Modern gaming on a hard drive is nearly impossible; the real bottleneck here is your outdated hardware. Siege is a streamlined esports title built specifically for very slow machines. It loads all its content into RAM, eliminating dependence on a sluggish hard drive.
