I was looking for new steam games and always checked the system needs. It’s better to avoid buying games that don’t run smoothly. I noticed a big gap in requirements between operating systems. For instance, total war Warhammer needs less on Windows, but Linux demands much more. MacOS is even stricter, needing a specific CPU and RAM compared to Windows and Linux. This pattern shows up often on steam. What’s going on?

They require genuine manufacturer parts and aren't compatible with custom builds like Linux or Windows PCs. I don't see a Mac model using a Core 2 Duo and 540 Iris chip.

Yes, it would alter the outcome. Using a core duo with 2014 AMD cards changes the system configuration compared to older setups.

You'd need to find an alternative source for the graphics driver, as official sites don't support macOS.

AMD drivers are available on macOS, and you can obtain NVIDIA drivers via their official website.

They likely import porting layers from DirectX into OpenGL, potentially raising the system's hardware demands.

Some titles offer genuine native Linux versions, but more often the Windows edition is provided by firms such as Feral who are compensated to adapt it for Linux use. This requires them to implement additional conversion steps, similar to crafting a custom WINE variant within the build.

With Steam today, it doesn't matter if you meet the basic rules—they feel a bit old-fashioned. I've even received refunds just because of that problem. Now I only consider the "Recommended" games as the standard.

Maos does not support Steam play. It is exclusive to Linux only.
