The latest automatic window driver update included a problematic driver named 'Realtek Semiconductor Corp.- MEDIA - 6.0.1.8397'. It caused the speaker to stop working on my Dell G5 laptop, and the issue repeated on another device, an ASUS XZ553VD. To resolve this, uninstall the driver via Device Manager: open it, find 'Realtek® Audio', click uninstall, confirm deletion, then restart. The driver should reinstall automatically after reboot; if not, use 'Scan for Hardware Changes' in Device Manager and install manually. This should fix the problem.
