This storage pool isn't assigned a drive letter and isn't listed in the system's "this PC" view.
I possess a PC with three outdated 250GB SSDs. Each one is too small for practical use, though my data remains secure on other machines with bigger storage and backups. One SSD is an M.2 with the operating system, while the other two are SATA drives I planned to merge into a pool. The issue is there’s no way to assign a drive letter, and Disk Management doesn’t display them. I suspect this setup is RAID 0 or similar, making all data vulnerable—losing one drive ruins everything. I just need them accessible on this system. Is there a clear method to achieve this? Macrorit can view the drives.
These two drives came from another PCs, one running an OS. Initially, I used Macrorit to organize the partitions, which worked well. After setting up the pool, they disappeared from Explorer and Disk Management. They appear in Macrorit once the pool was created. Their sizes differ slightly—250GB and 256GB, both Samsung—but I believe this shouldn’t affect pooling. I might consider replacing them with a bigger drive, though they seem unsuitable for resale and I wanted to utilize them meaningfully.
Solved! I was confused. I forgot to mention the step where you "Create a storage space." That’s when you assign the letter and choose the drive type (basic, parity, etc.). Once I got this right, it unlocks new ways to utilize those old small SSDs. (And yes, those files aren’t very secure against drive failure)
