An admin should likely remove this discussion since I discovered the reason it occurred. I fell victim to phishing. A person posed as an old friend and sent a link to their account. When I clicked it, a fake file appeared—SteamGuard.exe disguised itself as Steam.exe. It altered your system and forced you to log in, then displayed a misleading error about Steam connection issues. Fortunately, I restored Steam, logged back in, and changed my password before any damage was done. Stay vigilant if you encounter similar attempts.
