Hello. I purchased a brand new Intel NUC 11 Extreme KIT featuring an i7 11700B processor. I added an RTX 3080 XC3 ultra, 32GB RAM, and 3TB SSD.
I am using Windows 11 and encountering an issue with my microphone. When the microphone is connected, the PC shuts down after roughly 5 seconds. If I disconnect it, the PC remains in a halted state.
I attempted to disable all devices that can wake the PC, applied the latest BIOS, updated the microphone firmware, turned off fastboot, disabled USB when the PC is off, and set up wake-on-LAN. However, nothing has resolved the problem.
Someone mentioned that connecting the microphone to USB 2.0 resolved the issue, but my NUC only supports USB 3.0 and newer. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m frustrated because I have to unplug the mic every time I want to shut down the PC, and it’s also problematic in sleep mode as the mic wakes it up.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Check Device Manager for any alerts with a yellow exclamation mark. Consider reinstalling your chipset drivers in an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator. Also, could you share the SKU for your NUC? If not available, what is the PSU wattage for your NUC setup?
Hello, there are no yellow exclamation marks in the device manager. Also, I have all drivers updated and used Intel Assist. I'm from the Czech Republic and don't understand what you're asking about passing on the SKU for your NUC? The PSU is 650W FSP 80+; the datasheet mentioned it can run a GPU up to 350W. Everything is working fine, but the microphone isn't connected—I can turn off the PC. The main issue is with the mic.
SKU refers to the Stock Keeping Unit or commonly known model/part number for the product. We're looking for the manufacturer's name and the specific part number for your microphone. I've learned about WOL for Ethernet but not WOM for microphones.
Microphone model is HyperX SoloCast S, serial S19POAA, QDC001. Composition is 11 Extreme Canyon kit, 11700B CPU.
I created an account just to discuss this thread. After many attempts, this exact quote solved my problem. I recently purchased a HyperX Quadcast S and connected it to a random USB 3.0 port on the motherboard’s IO, which matched the issue you mentioned. When I put the computer to sleep, it would wake up right after entering sleep mode. The quote suggests that the microphone and USB 3.0 are likely causing the device to reactivate from sleep. Trying a different USB 2.0 port on the motherboard fixed the problem, so using a USB 2.0 port in the case should work too.
