I recently downloaded the Windows 10 ISO for my PC and tried booting it multiple times. It only takes about four seconds after I press the power button to reach the desktop. That’s much faster than what I experienced on Windows 8, which took around fifteen seconds. How did everyone else fare? Any differences in boot performance? It does seem unusual.

You likely had the fast boot feature turned off in Windows 8.1.

It ran in about ten seconds on Windows 8, but Windows 10 is still loading.

I use a hybrid setup with an SSHD and it starts in just 17 seconds without fast boot.

I turned it on, yet it feels unbelievably fast—only a few milliseconds!

It's roughly five seconds from pressing the button until I start sitting down.

The $179 netbook runs quickly—just 5 seconds—while my desktops finish in about 4 seconds. If it took 15 seconds, maybe a configuration issue or RAID was involved. Even the Ubuntu file server completes in 12 seconds.
