I mistakenly bought the Ryzen 5 1600AF without verifying compatibility with my motherboard first, a B550 board. I checked the CPU compatibility list online and noticed it wasn’t listed. However, someone on Reddit shared their experience using the same B550 board with the same processor, and it worked. Could anyone confirm if a Gigabyte B550m DS3H supports this model? Any specific BIOS version would be helpful.

Attempt it directly. If there’s a problem, let me know honestly—I’d expect it to be a mistake and might be returned under the assumption it was an unintended buy.

Consider discarding the 1600AF if you need reliable support. A BIOS update might become essential for critical security issues. Better to return or purchase a supported model.

The issue is that the device was purchased brand new, but someone on Facebook Marketplace bought it with an Intel CPU by mistake. My only choice would be to sell it and replace the board. I’m curious about how much worth it would lose if I have to do that. If I open it and try, what value might I lose?
